The GCO May Queen Ball on 23 May 2013 rocked the crowd through the night until early dawn at Hotel Muscat Holiday Sur Ballroom, Al Khuwair. Indeed, it was a night that was well complimented by all the communities that were present who shared their talent in melody, dancing and the parade on the red carpet. Every individual was touched and a word of appreciation was passed around about the Goan Community for their enthusiasm, unity and above all for extending their sincere support to Cancer Association of Oman for a worthy cause. Majan Events played a major role in supporting our event.

We were privileged to have Dr. Zahed Al Mandary with us who represented Madame Yuthar Al Rawahy founder and President of the Oman Cancer Association. Dr Zahed addressed the entire crowd  and was impressed by the activities carried out by GCO and moreover for supporting the Oman Cancer Association. His /OCA’s focal message to all communities was to spread the awareness of Cancer. He also thanked the GCO and all present for this great support.

To begin with,Our President Mr. Antonio Goes welcomed and conveyed the message to all ,that this event was taking place mainly to support the cancer association, all our needy Goan brothers & sisters and above all to bring awareness about cancer to every individual and to reach out to persons who are illiterate. This awareness will bring a new life to every child we meet.

Well to give you some feedback on the show, our Master of Ceremony for the night was Mr. Christopher Colaso, who was remarkable with his anchoring skills. This was a night of music that brought in joy and happiness in all the hearts of young and old. The Live Band “BROTHERS IN ARMS” who had come in all the way from GOA, entertained the crowd brilliantly and we could see groups of various communities who were continuously on the dance floor expressing their compliments towards the live band that melodiously catered to all ages. An event like this would never have happened without the support of you lovely people who were there present that evening.

We had a crowd of 475 and it was amazing to see the hall lit up with beautiful lights that covered up the entire hall and not forgetting the professional sound system that assisted the band and rocked the people on the floor. Our special thanks and gratitude goes to Mr. Baltazar Fernandes.

The Decor resembled a symbol of love, peace, joy and happiness with mixture of light and dark pink pastel colours. Every piece added beauty to the ambience. Thanks to Leila for her support. She is always readily available.

Every corner of the hall had a display of variety of banners to publish this event and much more. Lots of young and old couples wearing their finest outfits, that shone that night and brought life into all the hearts of the people. That is a compliment to you lovely people.

The main attraction, “Crowning of the May Queen 2013” the cream of our event, was meticulously carried out by a panel of respected judges: Mrs. Karen Green, Mrs. Sunaina Ahluwalia, Mr. Neal Bowden and Dr. Mario de Souza. The competition consisted of two rounds. The first round our ten beautiful contestants walked the ramp and introduced themselves to the judges. Based on this, the top five were picked who then went through to the Question & Answer round.

Judging them on their answers and various other criterias, the winners were picked.

We can close no event without thanking our respected President, Vice President, Vice President for Cultural and Sport Committee and of course the core committee members and all who worked silently behind the stage and performed their duties professionally.
