Prince Jacob’s Konkani tiatr “HI KANNI TUM SOPOI” organized by the GCO on 5th April 2013 at the Ruwi Parish Hall turned out to be a splendid success. Indeed, it was a great hit that was witnessed by a huge audience cheering with applaud and esteem. As mentioned earlier, first time in the history of Konkani tiatr the end was put forward to the audience.
We are proud to announce that our aim and goal in putting forward a variety of events for our Goan Community in Oman is a reality. All those who have witnessed on Friday evening at the Ruwi Parish hall, will agree and this would never been successful if you were not part of this event. GCO sincerely thanks your participation, presence, good will, cooperation, enthusiasm and above all your constant prayer support that brings a difference in the lives of each and every individual of our country. This event also served to bring Goans together and promoted the objectives of GCO in a major way.
During the event, we recalled the good works done by all our founder members and presented a bouquet of flowers to Mr. Flyn De Lima, Mr. Baltazar Fernandes and Dr. Mario de Souza. We are grateful to them for building this community since inception in May, 2008 and now given into our hands to get towards greater heights. A token of appreciation was also presented to Mrs. Leila D'Souza and Mrs. Ida Lopez for their selfless contribution in various fronts towards the community.
GCO also felicitated five of the prominent artists from the group including the Prince of comedy, Prince Jacob. Each were given a certificate of appreciation and a khanjar depicting the Omani Tradition. We also felicitated our local artist Mr. Francis De Mapusa who has been a part of more than 30 Tiatrs right from 1977 to 2005.
Our GCO Vice President (Cultural & Sports), Mr. Anthony Lourenco gave the vote of thanks thanking the audiences for their support. He also made an appeal to fellow Goans to enroll as members to strengthen the community.
Our artists were overwhelmed with the warm welcome and the hospitality they received during their trip to Oman. At the banquet dinner party held at the Majan Hotel in honor of the visiting guest, most of the artists acknowledge the fact that Oman has shown them the best of hospitality as compared to any other countries they have visited in the recent past. A Token of appreciation was presented to them by the core GCO Managing Committee.
GCO would also like to thank our very dear Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Wilson, for his spiritual advise and prayers. Last but not the least GCO will also like to thank all our sponsors, volunteers, well wishers & very specially Ms. Velrose for hosting this Tiatr in konkani very confidently.
Let us continue to keep up our unity and grow in love for the welfare of our Goan Community.
